The largest grape in the world is also found here on the Eory-Kogel.
The grape symbolizes the livelihood of the community and its businesses, but also the future development, which is based on historical roots. But it also stands for a good, fertile land and cheerful people.
It is the symbol of the second largest wine-growing community in Styria and has also been featured as a national emblem in the municipal coat of arms since 1955.
So it was a logical step, in this wonderful ambience, embedded by rolling hills with countless vineyards and varied greenery, on the Eory-Kogel in the cadastral community of Pößnitz the largest grape in the world made of stainless steel and artful, colored fillings made of fused glass, which the Grape pearls represent, erect. This grape representation is 5 m high, 4 m wide and almost 2 m deep.
In order to show the annual course of viticulture with the work in the vineyard and the vinification in the cellar up to the first sip of the noble grape juice, the local artist Willi Trojan created this grape so that it contains 365 pearls for the days of the year - including a 366th pearl for the leap year - has. The 52 parts of the object (50 leaves, trunk and grape) indicate the weeks of the year. The 31 small leaves symbolize the days of the month, the 12 medium-sized leaves the months of the year and the 7 large leaves represent the days of the week.
