I could not find out anything about the builders and the reason. The tower was then free on the agricultural Betzbühl (479 m) with excellent views over the plateaus of the inner Jura.
The tower is dilapidated, inside a structurally great wooden spiral staircase led upwards, whose lower 3 m were cut out, in order to prevent a stepping on.
A renovation brings no prospect back, since the now completely reforested environment has overgrown the tower in height.
