The origins of the "San Francesco" church probably go back to around 1320, when the later Archbishop Robert von Anjou had a chapel built on this site. The church and the buildings belonging to it are of Romanesque origin, the church was extensively renovated and expanded in the 18th century and renovated again between 2000 and 2002.
On the Romanesque facade there is a beautiful stone portal on which traces or remains of a popular fresco of the Madonna and Child as well as the Saints Francesco, Ludovico and Chiara can be seen. Above it is a beautiful rose window from the 14th century with folded leaves, which, according to popular tradition, comes from the Church of San Francesco in Campli. On the back wall of the church is the square bell tower. The baroque interior contains a valuable wooden choir from the 15th century. All in all a very worth seeing and especially impressive because of its age and the good state of preservation, which one should have visited.

One of the few saints who is also highly valued outside of Christianity is San Francesco, known in the German-speaking world as Francis of Assisi.
