Vogelsmühle
The Wupper village of Vogelsmühle is located between Dahlhausen and Dahlerau and is particularly well-known for its local shopping center "Wuppermarkt" with a large customer parking lot, a discount food store, as well as a butcher's shop, drinks store with post office, bakery and hairdressing salon. Vogelsmühle is also known for its numerous listed buildings, which today include the houses Vogelsmühle 12 (which once housed a restaurant), Vogelsmühle 13 - 17 (the factory building of the former Peter Schürmann & Schröder cloth factory), as well as the historic residential buildings Vogelsmühle 2, 3/5 and 18-20. The Catholic parish of St. Josef has its church and community center on the outskirts of Vogelsmühle, right next to the village of Keilbeck. Nature lovers will find the following hiking trails that lead through the town: The SGV main hiking trail X7, the district hiking trail ◇6 (Wupperweg) of the SGV Bergisches Land district, the “Street of Work” of the SGV Bergisches Land district, as well as the two prVogelsmuehle-KircheStJosef

On the history of Vogelsmühle
In 1804, Vogelsmühle had the Hensenhämmer, a hydroelectric power plant for two iron hammers and a fulling mill. This later developed into an industrial settlement that led to a sharp increase in the number of inhabitants. While Vogelsmühle had 26 inhabitants in 1815, by 1832 there were already 136 inhabitants. In addition to three residential buildings, there were four factories and mills in the town at that time. In 1888, Vogelsmühle had 18 residential buildings with 641 residents. Today's Wuppermarkt was established on the site of the former Schürmann and Schröder textile factory in order to prevent further deterioration of the structures.
