    “A little above [the Nibelungen relief] there was a covered hall, the so-called shooting house. It was built in 1866 and was very popular with hikers. It was used for target shooting at forestry staff meetings.” Nowadays, all that can be found here is a wooden plaque with reference to this place and the year in which it was built. In front of it there is a rest bench with a table, unfortunately not in good condition, but still a nice place.
    At the very top of the Nibelungen rock there is another very rustic and beautiful place to rest: four small benches around a large round sandstone table. “Above [...] the Steigbergstrasse, built between 1887 and 1890, leads past Elmstein/Schwarzsohl to Waldleinigen.”

      The Nibelungenfelsen is a rock massif piled up on several terraces in the Legelbachtal. Under a table rock there is a relief with larger-than-life figures from the Nibelungen saga, which gave the rock its name. The work of art was created in 1928 by the Hagen sculptor Heinrich Harwick on behalf of the Nibelungenverein Ludwigshafen. This association also built the Nibelungenheim in the forest near Schwarzsohl from 1927 to 1934 on the foundation walls of the former hunting lodge in the Palatinate region of Breitscheid.
