Grub Castle is located on the eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt near Obertraun in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria, in the Gmunden district of Upper Austria.

The castle is a hook-shaped structure with three round towers and a square tower, which is positioned in a corner to form a connection between the castle building and the chapel. The round towers have conical roofs, while the square tower has a pyramidal roof. The towers are relatively recent additions. The castle has a pointed roof with raised gables, each of which features a stucco frieze. Overall, the castle has a villa-like appearance, which also reflects its former use.

The castle is privately owned and can only be visited from the outside. Access is possible via the eastern shore hiking trail of Lake Hallstatt, built in 1986, or by boat from Hallstatt.
