The fish market, first mentioned as the "forum piscium" in 1290, once stretched along Speyer Bay. In the late Middle Ages, this was the site of the fish and timber market. The local "Hasenpfühler" guild, as well as sailors from outside, stacked their timber in the spacious timber yard.
