A large public park, the obvious gem of which is the Thai Pavilion - a highlight of its own.
But the park also offers a lot of other things to see, e.g. B. more than a hundred years old trees.

Here it is much quieter than on the promenade of Lake Geneva.

A bit of historyLike its close neighbors, the Olympic Park and the Elysée Park, the Denantou was included at the beginning of the 19th century in the countryside of Petit-Ouchy which extended from Ouchy to Vuachère. The design of the current park dates back to 1818 when its owner, the banker William Haldimand, decided to transform the classic park of that time into a vast landscaped park. Around 1831, he then built the tower that bears his name. This false ruin was a typical feature of 19th century landscape parks. But during the inauguration of the Ouchy wharf, in 1901, the Haldimand Tower was "annexed" by the public space and became the end point of the wharf. Almost 30 years later, in 1928, Lausanne bought the park from the sculptor Edouard-Marcel Sandoz and made it available to the public in 1929.
Points of interestIf there is a construction that does not go unnoticed at Denantou, it's the Thai pavilion. Built in 2007, this is a gift from His Majesty the King of Thailand on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Thailand. The choice of Lausanne to host this pavilion is also a gesture in memory of the 18 years that the sovereign spent in the Vaudois capital, from 1933 to 1951.(Http://lausanne.ch/en/thematiques/nature-parcs-et-domaines/espaces-verts/parcs-et-promenades/les-parcs-de-detente/parc-du-denantou.html)
