The watermill, built in 1748, is located directly in the center of the municipality of Ladbergen and consists of a smaller part on the south side and a larger part, built later, on the north side of the mill stream. The smaller, southern part of the mill, also called the old "Lütke" or Frenking mill, dates back to 1748 and was built at that time as a Prussian tax mill. The half-timbered building served as a grinding mill until the turn of the century and then as a wheelwright's shop. Today the southern part houses a restaurant.
