    The Revolution Monument was a memorial that was erected in 1926 at the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery in Berlin to commemorate the KPD leaders Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg who were murdered in 1919 as well as the victims of the Reichstag riots of 1920 and a few other revolutionaries from the labor movement who died later .

      The Liebknecht-Luxemburg demonstration in memory of the revolutionary socialists Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg, who were murdered on January 15, 1919, takes place annually around the date of their death, on the second weekend in January, and usually runs from the Frankfurter Tor to the memorial of the socialists the central cemetery in Friedrichsfelde. This demonstration has its origins in the funeral procession that took place on January 25, 1919 to bury 33 dead, including Karl Liebknecht. Over 100,000 people took part in this. An empty coffin was buried for Rosa Luxemburg next to Karl Liebknecht's grave, as her body had not yet been found. This annual commemoration was practiced in the Weimar Republic from 1919 to 1933 and continued and propagated as a central state event in the GDR from 1949. However, the focal point in the GDR era was not the Revolution Monument but the Socialist Memorial, which was newly created in 1951 at the southern entrance to the cemetery.
