The Freiraum Beeckerwerth is a small recreational area between the motorway and the railway, in the immediate vicinity of the ThyssenKrupp plant in Alsum. Impressive is the restful peace in the open space - untouched by traffic or industry. In the center of the green area is a quarry pond, which was created by excavations on a former slag heap.

Since I often drive (before I get home) from Bruckhausen, over the A2 pedestrian bridge, at Beekbach, to Papiermühlenstrasse and then selectively to "AltenEmscherStockum" (and parallel to the train route to the Baerler railway bridge) to Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse. And then on between Laar and Beek to Meerbergstrasse. And then ... now I have reached Beekerwerth ... and then the specified recreation area begins up to Haus-Knipp-Straße. Since I've never met anyone ... except for an angler !!! Then Löwenburgstrasse to the Rhine. Then only across the Rhine (A2 bridge), on the Rhine to the PCC stadium, through the rabbits home. That was 10km to "run out".
