In 1868 the station was opened as a station and in 1870 the wedge station was built. The Döbelner horse tram (1892 to 1926) served as a connection from here to the city center. In 1964, narrow-gauge operation was discontinued. The wedge shape of the station is almost unique.

The station was only opened with the opening of the Döbeln-Leisnig section of the Borsdorf-Coswig railway on June 2, 1868 as "Station Döbeln", which "temporarily" only had a "boarding shed". The station was built in 1867 and 1868 on the property of the Kleinbauchlitz manor.[5] With the opening of the Döbeln–Nossen section of the Borsdorf–Coswig railway on October 25, 1868, the Döbeln Ost stop went into operation, which meant that Döbeln station was given the name Döbeln Hauptbahnhof to distinguish it.
