Dippoldiswalde Castle is located in the city center of Dippoldiswalde in the Eastern Ore Mountains, directly on the western edge of the city center on a mountain spur above the Weißeritztal.

Between 1500 and 1550 the castle was converted into a Renaissance palace by the builder Peter Flötner from Nuremberg. The southern wing with the central building and the two-storey bay window on the west side was built in 1569–1572. In the Thirty Years War, the castle and the city were also affected.
Today the Dippoldiswalde District Court, the Museum Osterzgebirgsgalerie [1] and, since August 2018, the Museum of Medieval Mining in the Ore Mountains are located in the castle.
