Lluest Cwmbach Bothy

Amazing Lil bothy, complete with a raised platform to sleep on, a toilet and fire. There is no wood around this bothy to burn, and it is rather difficult to access so is not regularly stocked. The toilet was clean, and is flushed by the use of a bucket. There is a water butt that is filled by water collected from the gutters, the MBA do not recommend that you drink from this; However we used water filters and drank it and we where fine. The views are amazing, the sun sets directly across from the bothy, and it is set in a dark sky protected zone so we took in some of the best stars i've seen in the UK.Now for the bad part.... to access the bothy you have to hike through about a mile of bog. there is no way around. This may be drier after an extended dry period but i would still expect to cross a small river.

Well what can i say, the views you can wake up to here are astounding.

Great bothy with great views. Get in early there and chill and splash a bit in the reservoir. You have to cross a very boggy section with no easy way around with a bike - be mentally prepared for wet feet (or just be prepared). But at the end you can wash yourself in the stream or res.
