The Arthur-von-Weinberg-Steg, a nearly 100 meter arched bridge for pedestrians and cyclists, connects Fechenheim and the local recreation area in the Mainbogen between the Offenbach districts of Bürgel and Rumpenheim. The almost 100 meter spanning arch bridge for pedestrians and cyclists connects Fechenheim and the recreational area in the Mainbogen between the Offenbach districts Bürgel and Rumpenheim. The bridge is named after chemist Arthur von Weinberg, born in Frankfurt in 1860, who directed Cassella Farbwerke in Fechenheim during the first three decades of the 20th century. After 1933, the Nazi rulers urged him from all his positions and posts - as Weinberg had been honorary senator of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main - and banned him from the social life of the city. In 1942 Weinberg was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp, where he died a year later as a result of a medical procedure.
