Prevalje (German: Prävali) is a small town and municipality in Slovenia. It lies in the historical landscape of Koroška (Lower Carinthia) and in the statistical region of the same name. On January 1, 1999 Prevalje became an independent municipality.

Prevalje is located on a valley widening where the Meža (Mieß) flows from a valley into a spacious landscape filled with fluvioglacial sediments. In the north the core of the settlement is bordered by the western foothills of the Strojna, Stražišče and Dolga Brda, in the south by Navrški vrh (605 m) and Riflov vrh (726 m).

The historic settlement center is located on the left bank of the Meža, on the northern edge of the valley floor, in the district of Na Fari (parish village) with the parish church Marija na jezeru (Maria am See). The second historical center of the village lies at the mouth of the Leški potok (Lieschabach) in the Meža. At the beginning of the 18th century, the first industrial companies were here, which laid the foundation for the rapid economic and spatial development of the place. The area around the main street forms the center of the extensive town today
