    In Wels Castle you can visit the interesting city museum: Here you can experience an unbelievable 1,000 years of history of the city - from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and the Baroque to the present day. The castle was mentioned as early as 776, was owned by the Habsburgs for a time and under Emperor Maximilian I underwent a late Gothic conversion.       History of Wels Castle
