The road winds over the wide meadow slope at the foot of the Hochfahrn with a wonderful view until you drive into the forest at approx. 750 meters, which can be very welcome on sunny days. Fortunately, there are also several fountains along the way, should the drinking bottles be empty too early due to the continuous incline of 10-14%.
Only on the last 3 km of the route does the gradient ease and you roll a little easier at 4-8%. The surface is mostly good, only in the upper section there are some somewhat weathered spots (09/2021).
Those who are compatible with gravel can drive from the Erlenbacher Hütte over an approx. 1.5 km long forest road to the Stollenbacher Hütte and make a round trip that crosses the pass.
