The Wilhelminapark was built in the 1930s as a job creation, to a design by O. de Vries, park supervisor of the municipality of Delft. The park was originally inspired by the English landscape style. It is a "viewing" park, with winding water features and vistas over sloping lawns. The park has a main structure of walking paths with a large pond in the center. A certain planting system was followed during construction: the outer edge is planted with native species that are resistant to strong and cold winds. The second belt is planted with North American and the third with Chinese and Japanese crops and the fourth is a piece of indigenous polder land.
