The Seelow District Culture House was inaugurated in 1957. It came into being at a time when the people of this region actually had other things to do than building houses of culture. It is a typical building of these years that borrows proudly from the classicist style. The house offers a large hall with a stage and orchestra pit as well as a small hall with a small stage, a spacious foyer with two parallel stairways.
During the GDR era it was named "Erich Weinert" (German writer and from 1943 president of the National Committee Free Germany (NKFD)). The name is probably no longer used in official parlance. The street that leads past the Kulturhaus is still called Erich-Weinert-Straße and the monument is still on the square in front of the building. However, the inscription can only be recognized with difficulty.
