The place described is the Rungenberg mine dump in Gelsenkirchen-Buer, which has been converted into a recreational area. The heap rises not far from the Schüngelberg colliery between the A2 motorway, Horster Strasse and Rungenbergstrasse to 115.3 meters above sea level and around 68 meters above the surrounding area. This makes it one of the highest heaps in the Ruhr area. Its base is approx. 56 ha. The dump is arched between the former Hugo I / IV and Hugo II / V / VIII pits.
