Hymelinus, Himelinus or Himelijn was a Scottish pilgrim who is said to have died in 750 in Visaken. He would have been a brother of Saint Rombout van Mechelen. Returning from a journey to Rome, the Scottish or Irish pilgrim Himelijn arrived in Visaken. He asked the priest's maid to drink. She refused her jar, because there was a lot of plague, but after much insistence from the Scottish pilgrim she allowed it anyway. When the priest arrived, the water had turned into wine. The priest went to see the old pilgrim and insisted that he come with him to the parsonage. Himelijn accompanied the priest but refused the soft bed and pillows: he went to sleep on straw in the barn. Himelijn fell ill. He died in the vicarage three days later of the plague. The bells started ringing on their own. In St. Martin's Church, a grave had been prepared without the help of people, completely tailored to the deceased pilgrim and without any excavated earth visible. Himelijn was buried in that grave. St Martin's Church became a center of popular devotion. Pilgrims have been coming to Pisces for centuries.
