The monastery estate Oberwartha, formerly called Brauschänkengut, was probably built at the same time as the village and belonged to the Meissen bishops until the end of the 16th century. Despite subsequently changing owners and tenants, it remained the center of a large agricultural business for centuries and was also the center of the village.

The history of the monastery is very exciting, among other things it was a meeting place for Dresden art lovers around 1900. The owner had put together an extensive collection of paintings, historical weapons and pewter objects in the rooms.

The monastery property remained in private ownership until 1945, but was then expropriated by the land reform. From 1956 an LPG used the buildings, which were falling into disrepair. Even to this day, the decay of the monument has not stopped.

As of the beginning of February 2024, the monastery property, which was never one but was romantically referred to as a monastery by the last owner, the Arndt family, has been renovated in accordance with listed buildings and adapted to modern housing inconveniences. A resident across the street said the renovation was completed in 4Q23
. The two barns belonging to the monastery property were also repaired and individual apartments were set up. It looks really good.

In 1266 a fiefdom of the Meißen bishops was known, which had been privately owned since 1495. In 1507 it came to the feudal lord Ganzauge, who was followed by the knights Schiewitz von Schiewitzhofen. Another important owner is the Rudolph family, who owned the estate for around 200 years. From the 17th century the estate was called Brauschenkengut. Due to major fires in 1818 and 1842, some of the farm buildings were lost.

In 1885, Fritz Arndt bought the estate from Gustav Voigt and renamed it Klostergut, probably in reference to its owners in the 13th century. He also acquired two other properties and incorporated them into his own. He initiated renovation work in the Neo-Renaissance style, which began in 1892 and was completed in 1898. During this time, the old, destroyed brewpub was torn down and rebuilt as an artificial ruin. With a few exceptions, the buildings have extensive vaulted cellars that date back to before the Reformation and are historically valuable.
