      Quilitz is an old fishing village and is idyllically situated directly on the Peenestrom in Lieper Winkel. Here you will find many half-timbered houses with thatched roofs and fishermen's cottages from the 19th century. In 1914, Quilitz was the location of a 5.5 kg silver treasure (coins + jewelry).

      The Lieper Winkel was unknown country for centuries - remote, lonely and even sparsely populated than other areas of the island. Nevertheless, surprisingly, the church in the village of Liepe was the first to be mentioned in public on the island of Usedom. Due to the location isolated from beach tourism, the area was able to retain its original character. This original character is particularly notable for its costumes and traditions inspired by the Slavs.

      History: In 1187 the Pomeranian Duchess Anastasia bequeathed the place Liepe and its surroundings to the Premonstratensian monastery Grobe (near Usedom). At that time the peninsula was still densely forested and criss-crossed by swamps. The monks began to make the land usable in order to be able to colonize it, but for a long time nothing happened here. The inhabitants of the tiny villages had little contact with the outside world. Until the end of the 19th century they had to go by boat across the backwaters, only then was a road built that connected the Lieper Winkel with the rest of the island.
