Castle Ampfurth and telegraph station no. 16

The castle complex is a unique sight in the Bodetal. The castle Ampfurth is built in the style of the Renaissance.
The castle was first mentioned in the middle of the 12th century. The Rundburg passed into the possession of the archbishops of Magdeburg in 1257. From 1381 the lords of the Asseburg took over the administration of the plant. In 1483 it passes into their possession. The castle church still houses the graves of the family today. In the period from 1608 to 1615 the castle Ampfurth was built in place of the castle, which was one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in northern Germany. In 1997, Schloss Ampfurth became the property of the von Wahnschaffe family and has been privately owned to date.
