The Loseborn fountain
At this height of the slope there is a water-retaining layer, which is why several springs emerge here that have been captured in different wells. The most beautiful fountain is said to have been a three-pipe fountain between properties 1 and 3 in Bornstrasse.
As early as 1348, a Loseborn spring was described that had been captured in a well in the 15th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, there was a two-pipe fountain here, at property 15, which was renovated in 1860. The street was named Losebornquelle after this spring. Only later was the street renamed "Bornstrasse". The water from the Loseborn drove the mill wheel of the Loseborn mill (below the well in Kleine Borngasse 4).
