The Wasdale Head Inn is known to be the spiritual home of British climbing. From here the first pivotal climbing expeditions into the Lakes crags took place during the 'golden era' of British climbing.

As a walkers inn the pub has a drying room, useful for those soggy expeditions!

Great pub to visit after a long walk around wasdale head, serves food also with a shop adjacent to the pub, another of those lake district pubs kept away from the big name chains… but for how long

The Wasdale Head Inn is the spiritual home of English mountaineering. It was from here that the great early climbing pioneers launched their assaults on the crags of the Scafells, Pillar and Great Gable. Nothing short of an institution and perfectly situated in beautiful Wasdale; a magnificent launch base for a smorgasbord of Lakeland adventures. As a walker's inn, there's a drying room for those days when weather on the fells has been a bit too Cumbrian.
