With the stone corner towers, the Sajathütte almost looks like a castle high up in the mountains. Today's Sajathütte is a new building from 2002, after a short time before the old Sajathütte was completely destroyed by an avalanche. Several long-distance hiking trails lead past the Sajathütte, which thanks to its excellent comfort is a popular stop for mountain hikers.

the castle in the mountains, as the Sajathütte is also called, is a high-altitude destination for mountain hikers. It is located at 2600m on the edge of the Sajatkar with a wonderful view of the Lasörling group and the Panargen ridge. The modern hut even has a climbing wall. From the Bodenalm car park you have to climb 900 meters and from the Bichl car park you have to climb 1200 meters. The ascent via Katinweg is extremely arduous and sweaty on sunny days, as the route offers no shade.
The only way to continue hiking is to the Eisseehütte via the Prägratener Höhenweg and Timmeltal Höhenweg.
A via ferrata leads to the Red Column (2820m).
The top of the hut is the Kreuzspitze (3155m). You reach the Zopetscharte via this summit and then via the Tulpspitze. From there the mountain path meanders down to the Johannishütte in the Dorfertal.
This route choice requires a head for heights and absolutely safe walking in alpine terrain.
The Sajathöhenweg Sajathütte to Johannishütte over the Sajatscharte has been closed for several years due to the acute danger of falling rocks.

More comfort than a typical Alpine Club hut, and therefore a bit more expensive. The ascent via Bodenalm, Timmeltal and Prägratener Höhenweg is longer but more beautiful than the direct ascent from Bichl.

The hut is a good starting point for the Red Column via ferrata or the Kreuzspitze.
