The new lift was opened in 1962 and has a trough length of 90 m with a width of 12 m and 3 m water depth. The useful size is 85 m × 11.40 m × 2.50 m (effective length × useful width × draft). These dimensions allowed the then emerging European ship passage.
Technically speaking, the new elevator has the same construction principle as the old one, but the construction has been simplified.
