        Location + history: The info sign is on Buberlesweg immediately after Buberlesweg on Botnang's Kuckucksweg.
        Already in 1603 the Botnang people were certified that they “had to feed and maintain themselves until now with washing and bleaching alone”.
        The valley, rich in springs, offered enough water and the forest provided wood. It was washed with ash liquor. Beech wood ash was scalded with hot water, filtered and then poured over the laundry.
        The leached laundry was rinsed well, laid out on the meadow for bleaching and repeatedly sprinkled with water.
        After a week it was rinsed again and then hung on the line to dry.
        The washers not only had the special “Botnang wash brush” but also had their own bleaching formulas.
        In the second half of the 19th century, the bleaching business continued to decline.
