An Arneburg ferry was first mentioned in documents around 1420. It ran from the Rosspforte to the right bank of the Elbe. In 1932 a newly built ferry was put into service. It was 19.18 m long, 4.40 m wide and had a draft of 0.46 m. It was replaced in 1975 by the Arneburg ferry, which is still in service today. The ferry is located around one kilometer south of the center of Arneburg. On the east side it is another two kilometers until Neuermark-Lübars is reached.
The Arneburg ferry is a longitudinal cable yaw ferry with a maximum individual load of 15 tons. Operations are suspended during the winter months and during floods.
