The present-day Friedersdorf district of the town of Neusalza-Spremberg, which was an independent municipality until 2007, emerged during the medieval German eastern colonization as a forest-slope village on the upper Spree and was first documented in 1272. Until the end of the 15th century, the village of Friedersdorf belonged to the manorial estate of the noble von Raußendorf family. After that, the territorial division of the elongated village began. In pre-Reformation times and even centuries after the Reformation, the village, which was then divided into Ober-, Mittel-, and Niederfriedersdorf by the rulers, did not have its own church.
