The Petersberg is a north-west-south-east-oriented mountain (344.2 m above sea level) consisting of shell limestone, it borders the Eisenacher basin at the Creuzburg – Eisenacher Graben to the east, its eastern branch is the Hammelsberg (333.1 m above sea level). NN).

The historical boundary of the city of Eisenach runs over the Petersberg. The adjacent corridor district to the north belonged to the Trenkelhof, the eastern corridor district was part of the formerly independent municipality of Fischbach.
