The distinctive headland of Cape Cornwall meets the ocean at the point where the Atlantic currents split and flow south up the English Channel or north into the Bristol Channel and Irish Sea. Once a heavily industrialised landscape, it is now part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, and is home to many species of seabirds which nest on the cliffs.

A narrow headland and viewpoint. It is located approximately 6.7 kilometers north of Land’s End near St Just in Penwith.
The Atlantic is divided into several bodies of water here: the Bristol Channel and the Irish Sea begin here in the north and the English Channel in the south. The headland used to be the westernmost point of England until accurate measurements showed that Land's End is the westernmost point.
The chimney on the tip of the headland is a memorial to commemorate mining and the ore mining associated with it in the St Just mining area. In the immediate vicinity is the Letcha Mine, whose chimney can be seen about 800 south-east of Cape Cornwall. Many traces of the industrialization of this landscape have been preserved to this day. The area around St. Just has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006. (Excerpt from: Wikipedia)
