In the Schaumburger Land between Bad Nenndorf and Stadthagen lies not far from the B65, but quiet and hidden, at the foothills of the Bückeberge the romantic manor Remeringhausen.
This has been owned by the family for more than four hundred years. Here live two families in the character of down-to-earth traditions and modern open-mindedness, united not only by the family ties, but also by the task to preserve the old walls and the park for the following generations and to beautify them constantly. The history of the manor is inseparably connected with the name of those of Münchhausen and is, if not in direct succession, already in 21st generation in family ownership.

In 1565, Börries von Münchhausen (* 1515), Lord of Apelern, Drost zu Lauenau, inherited the manor Hessisch Oldendorf and a Meierhof in Remeringhausen from his father-in-law Claus Büschen. He bequeathed both properties to his son Ludolph von Münchhausen, who compiled a famous library here and in Oldendorf. Through peasant laying, he converted the farm of a serf Meier into a self-managed estate; However, it only received the status and privileges of a manor under his son. In 1600 Ludolph married 15-year-old Anna von Bismarck from the Krevese and Schönhausen family. They had 18 children, including five sons. Ludolph built a Renaissance palace in Remeringhausen, a side wing of which still stands today. In 1596 he had acquired the sundial decorating this building from Henning Ebbeke, magistrate at Sachsenhagen.

The building was later replaced by a baroque mansion, which still stands today. The manor has been family-owned for over 500 years. It was one of many estates owned by the von Münchhausen family in the region, including Apelern, Lauenau, Stolzenau, Bettensen, Nienfeld and Hessisch Oldendorf (the former four still owned by the Münchhausens). After the death of Hans Georg Freiherr von Münchhausen in 1952, his nephew Eberhard von Breitenbuch inherited the Remeringhausen manor. Today's owner is his granddaughter Tania von Schöning. From 2001, all buildings were renovated in accordance with monument regulations.

Some historians assume that Remeringhausen (“Remerhusen” until around 1700) was once a Roman lookout post. The location above a vast plain is a place where every troop movement on the Hellweg could be observed as a forerunner of today's B 65. The square terrain platform, which has been proven to have existed since around 1600, was typical of fortified Roman camps. Later, this area would have served as a fortified castle for the residents of the village of Heuerßen. During the Thirty Years' War the manor of the von Münchhausen family served as a fortified military yard.
