    The Villa del Balbianello stands at the end of the Dosso di Avedo in one of the most suggestive positions of the whole lake. Due to its charm it is now used as a scenography in numerous film productions.       The Villa del Balbianello in Lenno is a must-see. Located at the tip of the Lavedo peninsula, it not only offers breathtaking views of the lake but also a fascinating history. Where the elegant villa stands today, there was once a small Franciscan monastery – the two old church towers are still preserved and bear witness to its past. In 1787, Cardinal Angelo Durini commissioned the construction of the property, which later became world-famous.

      The garden is a true masterpiece: terraced and perfectly integrated into the natural terrain. Steep cliffs create different levels where manicured meadows, dense hedges, majestic oaks, and slender cypresses alternate. Benches invite you to pause and take a break – with a view of the villa or the shimmering lake.

      Film lovers might recognize the setting: The villa served as a filming location for major cinema productions such as James Bond – Casino Royale and Star Wars: Episode II. No wonder, because this place seems like it comes from another world – perfect for a little journey back in time in the middle of nature.
