The treasure stone is 760.4 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Ore Mountains in Saxony. It is located immediately northwest of the town of Elterlein on the municipal borders with Zwönitz and Grünhain-Beierfeld in the Grünhain Forest. At the highest point of the Schatzenstein there is a column of the Royal Saxon Triangulation and in the rock there is a memorial plaque for the dialect poet Max Schreyer, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the creation of his famous song Dar Vuglbärbaam.
