The Selkefall is a small, man-made waterfall on the Selke. It is located in a forest area around one kilometer northeast of Alexisbad near the federal highway 185.
The Selkefall was created around 1830 as part of the construction work on "Carls Teich", which supplied the ironworks in Mägdesprung with process water. The corresponding water management systems were destroyed by a flood in July 1955. All that remained was the picturesque and very natural-looking Selkefall.
You can see the waterfall from the road mentioned. However, you have to leave your vehicle and walk a bit to get directly to the Selkefall. There the water of the Selke falls in several cascades about four meters down.
The place by the waterfall is ideal for hikers to take a short rest. The Selkefall looks particularly impressive in winter, when the water rushes along under the ice and only appears in a few places. But even in spring, after the snow melts, the fall of the Selke River, which is not regulated by any dams, over the rocks is very impressive.

Pretty little waterfall, created by man, but looks very natural. A seat invites you to linger. A few steps away from a mini hiking car park at Kreisstraße 185.
