The Old Lahn Bridge was built in the second half of the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1288. It was part of the medieval trade route from Frankfurt to Cologne. In order to increase their stability, the pillars in the riverbed were reinforced with icebreakers.
There were gate towers on both sides of the seven-arched bridge, which were demolished in the first half of the 19th century.
