The impressive difference in altitude of 1520 meters, the beautiful route that leads from the rather lovely valley from Jausiers up into a high alpine lunar landscape, countless switchbacks, rushing mountain streams and magnificent views make this pass journey an exceptional experience. Definitely recommendable and not overly plagued by motorized traffic outside of the summer vacation period.

Wonderful ascent from Jausiers - all alpine levels are crossed - from the lovely valley up past meadows and light mountain forest to the tree line, over alpine meadows up to the barren, high alpine scree desert - you only experience that on the very high alpine passes!

Quite a challenge, this long but very beautiful climb. Don't make the mistake to stop at the Chalet 2000 but make sure you finish on the top. The view is really amazing and the descent is so much nicer. One of my personal favorites.

The north face of the Col de la Bonette is a spectacular climb and one of the best in all the French Alps. I've climbed it five times (never on the south face, I still have yet to do it) and I can assure you that I've always thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't minded doing it again. It's a paced climb, and the goal is to enjoy yourself, the effort, and the scenery.
It's a MUST.
