The Danevirke Museum (which is Danish for Danewerk Museum) is fully dedicated to the largest monument from the Viking Age. In the museum you will learn everything about the history of the Danes from the beginning in the 5th century, about the Viking Age and the High Middle Ages to the time of the German-Danish wars and the Second World War. The Danewerk was a huge border fortification consisting of ramparts, walls, ditches and a lake barrier - the mighty ruins of the ramparts have been preserved in the landscape to this day. By the way, it used to be thought that the Viking queen Thyra, the legendary namesake of our route, built the wall.
