The Rathenower Gate Tower is a tower in the city wall of the old town of Brandenburg in Brandenburg an der Havel. It is one of the eight gate towers that were formerly eight and are still four today.

The oldest surviving city gate in Brandenburg was started around 1290 in front of the palisade on the field side as a gatehouse with a drawbridge and was also extended on the city side around 1310. Around 1320, two upper floors with coat of arms panels on the outer edges were completed. Access to the lower floor of the tower was only possible from the battlements on the floor of the first floor.

Probably after 1355, perhaps as a punishment for paying homage to the "false Waldemar" - a fraudster who pretended to be the deceased Margrave - the gate was closed, the dungeon was lined with bricks and a vaulted gun chamber was built in above it. In 1911 the tower was broken through for the footpath. In 1945 the Rathenow gate tower was hit by a gun. Finally, in 1996, the tower was secured.

The Rathenower Torturm, built to protect the north of the old town, forms an irregular square. The 28 m high building with a pointed conical roof stands a little to the side of the roadway, as does the Plau gate tower. Even today, the city wall at Walther-Rathenau-Platz reaches up to the Rathenow gate tower.
