The former weir and defense system has now become an oasis of calm in the middle of the city. Today the castle houses the administration of the barons Riedesel zu Eisenbach and the Riedesel archives.
The facility is privately owned. A visit is only possible from the outside.

From 1580 to 1581 the main building, which still dates from the Gothic period, was expanded into a castle with a Renaissance portal and was given a tubular well. The castle has a tenant house with curved gables and a castle gate with a cent and the same number in the coat of arms. The appearance of the courtyard from the second half of the 17th century has been preserved.
