In addition to the world's oldest salt mine and the idyllic, world-famous postcard view, the 12th-century Ossuary in Michael's Chapel - to the right of the Catholic Parish Church - is one of the most interesting sights in Hallstatt: Visitors from all over the world come to this extraordinary collection every year to admire over 600 artfully painted skulls.
