Schnait is a district of the large district town of Weinstadt in the Rems-Murr district.

The place was first mentioned in 1238 as Snait. Schnait became the ancestral seat of the Gaisberg noble family in the 16th century. In 1555 the village came into the possession of the Limpurg taverns. On July 10, 1596, Schnait was taken over by Württemberg. The taverns from Limpurg got Schnait back on November 18, 1602. In 1607, Schnait was finally transferred to Württemberg through an exchange. The community belonged to the Oberamt Schorndorf. After the dissolution of the Schorndorf Oberamt, Schnait was assigned to the district of Waiblingen in 1938. In 1971, the Catholic Church of the Holy Cross was opened in the traditionally Protestant-dominated Schnait. On January 1, 1975, Schnait, along with other communities, became part of the new community of Weinstadt.
