This small island off the coast of Port-Blanc in Brittany holds a fascinating history. In 1876, Ambroise Thomas decided to build a three-story house, a chapel, and a conical tower there, structures that still stand today. The true curiosity, however, concerns its purchase by American aviator Charles Lindbergh in the 1930s. After the tragic kidnapping and murder of his son, Lindbergh moved to Europe and purchased this island in 1938 for $16,000, about $1 per square meter. The family lived there only a short time, returning to the United States the following year, shortly after the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. Today, the island is owned by the Heidsieck family.
