Parque Nacional De Biesbosch

National Park De Biesbosch is on the list of protected nature reserves. De Biesbosch is partly used for agriculture and there is a lot of (water) recreation. Specially constructed reservoirs provide for the storage of clean surface water.
Since 1994, De Biesbosch has been a national park, where work is now in full swing to give more space to the rivers.

The Biesbosch National Park is a true water paradise. As one of the few freshwater tidal areas in the world, you can not only cycle beautifully here, but of course also go hiking or canoeing. In Biesbosch, extensive reed areas, meadows, willow-covered islands and swampy forests are still preserved, as they were common in the west of the Netherlands long ago. Bird lovers will get their money's worth: Hundreds of bird species breed in the national park, including around 20 pairs of kingfishers. The sea eagle is also a regular visitor and can be observed in this area all year round.

National Park De Biesbosch is one of the few freshwater tidal areas in the world. You can go for fantastic hiking, cycling or canoeing through a labyrinth of rivers and streams of crystal clear water.
