We promise you: You haven't seen anything like this before! The basalt fan on the Hirtstein almost looks as if it had been created by hand. This geological phenomenon consists of solidified lava that is millions of years old that streamed to the surface and solidified in this form. Pretty cool right?

Up here, the Hirtstein not only offers a beautiful view over the Ore Mountains, but also a beautiful view of a rare geologically formed basalt fan (due to volcanic activity) - also called a "palm frond". I've never seen anything like this before. This is really worth seeing! Opposite the basalt fan there is another impressive “basalt staircase”.
There are also some benches so you can enjoy this beautiful place for a little longer, for example when taking a break 😊
