"The church of the" Nygenkerke ", first documented in 1318, was probably built between 1380 and 1450. The lower wall parts of the church consist of unusually large boulders and field stones and the superstructure of baked sandstone.
In its original form, the church had a bell tower, which fell victim to a storm around 1650 and was later replaced by the bell house on the west side of the church.
Since 1367, the bell rings in Neuenkirchen, making it the oldest church bell on the island of Rügen. In 1901, the church bell was recast, with the original inscriptions were taken. At the main entrance of the church, the south portal, there is a medieval stoup built in a field stone.
Inside, visitors can see a simple but beautiful village church. The Renaissance pulpit from 1567 originally came from St. Mary's Church in Bergen on Rügen and was donated by the mayor of Cracow in 1775 to the "Maria-Magdalena" church in Neuenkirchen.
