    Annasäule
In the middle of Maria-Theresien-Straße, the Annasäule commemorates the Bavarian invasion of 1703. The liberation took place on St. Anne's Day, July 26th. The Tyrolean state parliament took this as an opportunity to donate the monument in the form of the decorated column. At the top of the Corinthian column made of red marble, a statue of Maria Immaculata sits enthroned on a crescent moon. The Trentino sculptor Christoforo Benedetti designed the statues of saints that surround the pedestal. There are St. Cassian, Vigilius, George and St. Anne.

St. Anne's Column, Innsbruck (originally called the Mariensäule)
The St. Anne's Column is one of the most famous and symbolic monuments in Innsbruck's old town and is prominently located on Maria-Theresien-Straße, the central boulevard of the Tyrolean capital. It was erected in 1706 and commemorates the liberation of Tyrol from Bavarian troops during the War of the Spanish Succession – an event that is said to have taken place on July 26, 1703, the feast day of St. Anne. On this day – the so-called "St. Anne's Day" – the Tyrolean defenders were able to push back the Bavarian units near Innsbruck, which went down in regional history as the "Bavarian Rummel." In gratitude for this successful resistance, the column was donated by the Estates of the Principality of Tyrol.
Why the St. Anne's Column is so named...
Actually, the name of the St. Anne's Column is incorrect. The column, located in the middle of the magnificent Maria-Theresien-Straße, was originally called the Mariensäule. At the top of the column stands Mary with a sickle. After the consecration of the column on St. Anne's Day, July 26, 1706, the name became so lasting that the Marian Column became St. Anne's Column. July 26 is St. Anne's Day—hence the name St. Anne's Column.

The Annasäule stands in the Maria-Theresien-Straße in Innsbruck.

It got its name 1703 after the Annatag (26 July), at which the last of the Bavarian troops invaded in the context of the Spanish war of succession were expelled. To thank the Estates in 1704 praised the establishment of a monument.
This was created by the Trentino sculptor Cristoforo Benedetti from red Kramsacher marble. On the pedestal there are four statues of saints:
        - In the north St. Anna, the mother of Mary.
        - In the west Kassian, the patron of the Diocese of Bressanone.
        - In the east Vigilius, patron of the Diocese of Trento.
        - In the south Georg with dragon and lance, then and since 2006 again patron saint
           (now next to St. Joseph).

These four are exaggerated by the column with the statue of the Crescent Madonna.
